Jan relies on research-supported best practices, and builds on 18 years of teaching elementary and secondary students using the 6+1 Trait model, tutoring students, and mentoring teachers. Jan has an M.S. in education with a focus on language and literacy, as well as a National Board Certification in Early Adolescence English and Language Arts.
In her workshops, Jan involves everyone in gaining the content through humor, interactive strategies, and hands-on activities. Participants often remark on how re-energized and excited they are to return to their classrooms and apply what they learned.
