Please join the Southern Oregon Education Service District, the Oregon Department of Education, and the Region X Equity Assistance Center for a free-one-day professional development event about education equity.

This no cost professional development activity for school and district administrators, counselors, and Title IX coordinators will convene experts in the field of educational equity, and culturally responsive teaching practices to share current research on the effects of culturally responsive teaching, strategies to create welcoming school communities, and preventing and countering behaviors that target students based on their race, sex, national origin, disability and sexual orientation. Each organization will share information that schools and districts can use to develop and/or modify school policies and procedures to reflect current laws and best practices that protect each student and improve accountability of district staff.

Participants will engage in conversations around Conditions that Support Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning Practices; Key Components of Educational Equity to Ensure Civil Rights Compliance; and Successful Strategies for English Learners, with a Focus on Parent Communication.
