Using the Change to Common Core-Linked Assessments To Enhance Discussions About Instructional Practice
The 90-minute webinar took place on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 starting at 12 p.m. PST/3 p.m. EST.
Register now for a presentation on strategies for communicating about CCSS-linked assessments to enhance discussions about instructional practice. Join AERA’s Division H (Research, Evaluation, and Assessment in Schools), REL Mid-Atlantic, and REL Northwest for a presentation and discussion about strategies that states and districts can use for communicating results and information to the public about new Common Core-linked assessments.
Josh Thomases, Dean of Innovation, Policy & Research at the Bank Street College of Education, will share his experience developing and implementing the NYC Department of Education’s communication plan for the Common Core-based NY state assessments that took effect in 2012–13. He will focus on both the challenge around the changing test scores and the more critical challenge of using the results of the assessments to discuss rigor and classroom practice. Members of the AERA Division H Professional Development Committee will contribute to the discussion/Q&A session following Mr. Thomases’ presentation.
