6+1 Trait® Writing Across Content Areas Institute Coming up in March

Register by February 12th and Save!

The 6+1 Trait® Writing team at Education Northwest is hosting a Writing Across Content Areas Institute for middle and high school teachers March 11–12 in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Education Northwest’s 6+1 Trait® Writing Model of Instruction & Assessment is a powerful framework designed to help teachers and students use a common language to refer to characteristics of writing while establishing a clear vision of what good writing looks like.

The 6+1 Trait workshop, presented by former Texas Teacher of the Year Roberta Young, targets teachers of grades 6–12. Educators will learn how to incorporate writing-to-learn activities across the content areas—including subjects such as math, science, and social studies.

Participants will spend the first day exploring ways to introduce the Traits to students using quick writes and other short assignments. On the second day, they will delve into using the 6+1 Trait® Writing Model to improve and assess writing in all content areas. Additionally, teams will learn to use the Traits to improve and assess longer, more formal writing assignments.

The 6+1 Trait® Writing Across Content Areas Institute takes place at the brand new luxury hotel Courtyard by Marriott City Center (550 SW Oak Street), near the posh Pearl District in Portland, Oregon. Participants registering by February 12 qualify for the early-bird rate. Our 6+1 Trait workshops fill quickly, so please confirm your registration before making any nonrefundable travel reservations.
