On June 19, 2013, Education Northwest announced the appointment, effective immediately, of Dr. Danette Parsley to serve as the organization’s Chief Program Officer, and Ms. Joy Bell to serve as its Chief Operating Officer. These are new executive positions in the organization.

Parsley, who currently leads the organization’s Center on Strengthening Education Systems and directs the Northwest Comprehensive Center, is a nationally recognized expert on education system improvement. She joined Education Northwest in 2010. In this new position, Parsley now directs all of Education Northwest’s programmatic work. In making the appointment Chief Executive Officer Steve Fleischman observed, “Danette is one of those rare individuals who both thinks big and makes great things happen. She has proven herself an exceptional leader with a commitment to our mission to create strong schools and communities in our region and across the nation.”

Bell has served as Education Northwest’s Chief Finance Officer since joining the organization in 2007. As Chief Operating Officer, she now directly supervises the operation of the organization’s communications, facilities, financial, human resources, and information technology functions. Fleischman noted that, “Joy has proved herself supremely capable since the day she arrived to direct our finance office and will perform equally well in her new responsibilities. Her desire to meet the needs of our clients and customers is proven on a daily basis by her service orientation and unfailingly positive attitude." Bell will continue to serve as Chief Finance Officer at Education Northwest.
