More About the NMC

History

The National Mentoring Center is one of the nation's premier training and technical assistance providers to youth mentoring programs and multi-site initiatives. We originally formed as the training and technical assistance provider for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Juvenile Mentoring Program (JUMP), which funded over 250 local mentoring programs to serve at-risk and adjudicated youth. Our training events and resources found great success with both JUMP programs and the mentoring field as a whole. Over the years we have worked with other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools and the Corporation for National and Community Service, as well as state mentoring partnerships and a variety of local and regional clients.

Today we boast expertise in a variety of mentoring models, such as school-based, peer mentoring, and mentoring for specific populations of disadvantaged youth. We work with a national cadre of expert trainers to ensure that programs of all shapes and sizes have access to the very best mentoring best practices, research, and staff development opportunities.

Our Resources

The NMC has developed a comprehensive set of program development materials and curricula that are available for use by any mentoring program. We can also assist organizations in creating their own resources, such as policy and procedure manuals, program replication guides, and data collection tools.
