School Improvement Grant resources from Education Northwest

This December 14, 2009, Webinar—organized by Education Northwest, REL Northwest, the Northwest Regional Comprehensive Center, and the Alaska Comprehensive Center—featured an authoritative panel that included Deputy Secretary of Education Tony Miller and other senior program officials from the U.S. Department of Education. They discussed the strategic use of ARRA initiatives.

The Investing in Innovation (i3) Fund provides funding to support local education agencies (LEAs) and nonprofit organizations in partnership with one or more LEAs or a consortium of schools.

These tools and resources were developed by Education Northwest to help regional schools and districts optimize the use of ARRA funds.

Education Northwest suggests the following principles for administrators and decisionmakers to consider when planning the investment of ARRA funds. While the infusion of funding is likely to be short-term, its wise investment could result in successful and sustained educational improvements for years to come.
