Education Northwest’s Recreating Secondary Schools (RSS) Program is one of the nation’s foremost providers of training and coaching to schools and districts seeking to develop rigorous and relevant middle and high school programs, including small schools, smaller learning communities (SLCs), and career academies.
The RSS Program has worked with more than 1,000 schools and districts—from Maui to Miami—helping them build their capacity for transformation. Our experience includes work with large and small school districts and diverse student populations in urban, suburban, and rural settings.
This work is carried out through an annual national institute on high school redesign, From Structure to Instruction, technical assistance, and design studios.
RSS staff link research to effective practice. We draw on research as well as field experience to help districts and schools build problem-solving skills and leadership capacity.
Our expert coaches and trainers collaborate with your school teams to address specific issues, rather than apply “cookie cutter” solutions to your unique challenges. We focus on sustainable organizational improvement: By training school leaders and teacher teams, we strengthen the skills of your staff so you can continue the work we begin together.
