English Language Learner (ELL) Program Review

Education Northwest offers technical assistance for a school or district that provides a comprehensive examination of the experience of English language learners informed by current professional literature and research. An ELL program review begins with the collection of data from a variety of sources including classroom observations, achievement data, curriculum documents, and focus groups with and surveys completed by students, parents, teachers, and school and district administrators. The data are then analyzed using current professional literature and research on effective practices for ELL students and reported to stakeholders in written or verbal form. The report will highlight the areas of strength as well as point out what might be done to improve the learning experience for ELL students. The findings and recommendations can be used in the development of a school improvement plan focused on ELLs.

Customizable

ELL program reviews can be customized for K-12 schools or districts and offered in either of the following formats:

  • Education Northwest staff conducts the review and writes a detailed report that includes findings and recommendations.
  • Education Northwest staff facilitates the ELL review process in collaboration with a school or district team. The team will compile and share the findings. This format is designed to build the capacity of a school- or district-based team to conduct future reviews.

What Clients Will Learn
