Coaching, Change, and Assessment Workshops for Managers

The Institute for Youth Success offers two workshops that support managers with data-informed program improvement. These trainings were designed by the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, and support the roll out of the Youth Program Quality Assessment.

What Participants Will Learn

Our training participants take home practical skills so that they are prepared to create a culture of change and help staff feel supported with continuous improvement.

Staff that work directly with youth have a series of 10 workshops (called the Youth Work Methods) to teach skills necessary for front line staff. These two trainings are for managers, and are offered by request. Please contact Sarah Nance with any questions.

Session Descriptions

Quality Coaching. Designed for youth-program managers, this session teaches the skills necessary to support staff, improve organizational culture. Participants learn what quality coaching is, how to conduct observation and reflection, and how to communicate effectively with staff. Quality Coaching offers valuable tips and can also be useful for managers not implementing the Youth Program Quality Assessment.

Planning with Data. The Center for Youth Program Quality developed a three-part process to strengthen program quality: assess, plan, and improve. Learning from data and using it effectively are a must for an efficient quality-improvement system. That’s what this workshop is all about. This training prepares participants to develop effective program-improvement plans and to take this planning process back to their program settings using the Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) framework.
