Findings from the IES practice guide Turning Around Chronically Low-Performing Schools were the focal point of this REL Northwest event. The agenda was based on the guide's four recommendations for improving low-performing schools: 1) Signal the need for dramatic change with strong leadership 2) Maintain a consistent focus on improving instruction 3) Provide visible improvements early 4) Build a committed staff. Dr. Sam Redding, one of the authors of this comprehensive review of research evidence, was the keynote speaker. Also see resources from this event.
