Recruiting and Retaining Effective Educators:
Inspiring Ownership at Work
The Idaho Superintendent Network (ISN) supports superintendents in the important work of leading Idaho’s school districts and enhances superintendents’ abilities to recruit, develop, and retain effective educators by networking with colleagues, Idaho SDE representatives, and experts from inside and outside of education. Together, participants build professional capital for improving teaching and learning in their districts.

In addition to network participants, representatives from ISDE and various stakeholder groups will be invited. ISN participants will be given a copy of "Bloom: Inspiring Ownership at Work."
Wednesday, December 14, 2016
Networking Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; Meeting 8:30: a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our speaker will be Matt Dahlstrom, author of "Bloom: Inspiring Ownership at Work." Matt is a nationally recognized speaker, author and consultant. He has worked with dozens of Fortune 500 companies providing new ways to inspire, energize, and empower people in what they do. He believes employees need three things to bloom; goals, roles, and rope. Using his own experience and lessons from others he will walk us through the different types of employees – owners and renters and how to encourage an “ownership” mindset. All participants will receive a copy of Matt’s book.
We will also be expanding our discussion of ways we can collectively build the educator pipeline in Idaho. In addition to sharing strategies to answer the immediate needs of districts, we’ll be discussing ways universities, the state department, state board, legislature, and business leaders can assist our efforts.
