This professional development opportunity is offered through a partnership between the Oregon Leadership Network (OLN) and the National Equity Project. The event is hosted by Northwest Regional ESD.
Educators across the country are grappling with how best to implement a new set of standards, instructional practices and assessments. But if we are going to deliver on the promise of the Common Core – and how it can actually create paths to college readiness for all students – we have to understand more about what’s needed for students who are further from success, what challenges that presents for us as educators, and intentionally develop approaches that will work for all of our students.
This seminar will present Learning Partnerships as a powerful approach for increasing student engagement and ownership of Common Core learning, particularly those who are struggling and/or have a history of failure or negative experiences in schools. The day will include scenarios and examples of routines and approaches that support students to meet the demands of Common Core standards.
