Throughout the United States, education leaders are advancing curriculum, practices or standards to enhance the social and emotional development and trauma-informed practice in our schools. At the same time, educational systems are engaged in authentically focusing on equity and inclusion. There is a growing urgency for educational leaders to examine how these concepts intersect. Nationally and locally, critical perspectives have surfaced, questioning if prevalent resources and frameworks adequately serve youth of color, or if they may be harmful by promoting a biased view of cultural norms, values and growth.
On May 29, we invite you to join us to explore social emotional learning (SEL) and trauma informed practice through an equity lens. Education Northwest’s team will share recently published research and resources and will facilitate a discussion to share perspectives on recent developments in the field. We ask you to bring your questions, ideas, practices and plans.
We look forward to learning alongside you.
