Education Northwest congratulates North Clackamas School District Superintendent Matt Utterback on being named National Superintendent of the Year.
The award was presented by AASA, The School Superintendents Association, on March 2 in New Orleans at the 2017 National Conference on Education.
Utterback has served as the superintendent of the North Clackamas School District in Milwaukie, Oregon, for the past four years.
“It’s an incredible honor to represent our school district in the state of Oregon at the national level,” Utterback said in an AASA press release. “The National Superintendent of the Year has an opportunity to share stories, to share learning (and) to share the good work that is happening in public schools across our country.”
A champion for equity in schools, Utterback has been an active participant in the Oregon Leadership Network (OLN), as has the North Clackamas School District.
“Matt has proven himself to be a thoughtful and powerful leader,” OLN Director Rob Larson says. “His inclusive demeanor, commitment to educational equity and relentless dedication to serving each student in his district has earned him the respect of his community, staff, students and peers.”
