Ciera Carr
(she, her, hers)
Instructional Designer & Content Developer
Ciera has always loved learning, which is why she went into education. Her goal when she first started teaching was to make sure each of her students, all from very diverse backgrounds and home lives, had an amazing educational experience that would follow them throughout their academic career and life. She ultimately wants to encourage and help other educators, especially those serving underprivileged populations, to be able to provide an equitable and quality education to all their students. Through her work as an educator and now an instructional designer with Education Northwest, Ciera feels that she is doing her part to make that happen.
For the past 10 years, Ciera has worked as an early childhood teacher, spending three years in pre-k and the last seven years in kindergarten. She loved being the “introduction to education” for her young students. Within the last three years, she has added a couple of training roles to the mix, becoming a Microsoft Ambassador for her school district and creating trainings for staff members at her school on how to effectively incorporate the technologies into their classrooms. After that, she was asked to be a trainer with the Amazon Bootup STEM program to help bring coding and robotics into the classroom—an educational passion of hers. Ciera enjoyed creating trainings and working with teachers, which led her to want to move out of the classroom and into an instructional design role.

If I was stranded on a deserted island, I would bring...
Two blankets. I don't like bugs or being cold!
