Join Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Northwest for the annual convening of the OR GPS Alliance—a partnership between practitioners and researchers working to improve high school graduation and postsecondary education completion for all Oregonians.
A Time to Act: Why Equity Matters Now More Than Ever
At our 2020 annual convening, the keynote speaker will be Kali Thorne Ladd, executive director of KairosPDX, a nonprofit focused on delivering excellent, equitable education to underserved children, their families, and their communities. Ladd will discuss pressing challenges facing Oregon students in the time of COVID-19 and racial reckoning. She will also provide suggestions on how to address these challenges to support more equitable outcomes in high school graduation and college completion. Participants will be asked to consider the following:
- What questions should we be asking that we aren't?
- How do we challenge the status quo?
Following Ladd’s keynote, participants will attend one breakout session of their choice. The three breakout sessions focus on recent research REL Northwest has conducted in Oregon on career and technical education, accelerated learning, and school discipline, respectively.
