Webinar Date and Time:
Tuesday, May 26, 2020
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PDT
To gather information about the field of out-of-school time science, technology, engineering, and math (OST STEM), Education Northwest recently conducted a national scan of OST STEM programs for the Overdeck Family Foundation. The goal of the scan was to describe the experiences of OST STEM programs that have successfully scaled their efforts and provide insights and recommendation for program leaders and funders seeking to expand OST STEM opportunities in their communities. This webinar will provide an overview of the key findings from the scan, including the following:
- The characteristics and features of scaled programs (e.g., content area, use of hands-on experiences for youth).
- The practices programs use to scale (e.g., site recruitment, building ownership in new sites).
- The evidence supporting the effectiveness of scaled programs (e.g., academic achievement in math, sense of belonging in STEM fields).
- The lessons learned from these findings that practitioners and funders can leverage to scale OST STEM learning.
