The Impact of Computational Thinking on Louisiana Students’ STEM Outcomes
June 2025
Louisiana State University received a federal Education Innovation and Research grant to create and implement an Introduction to Computational Thinking course designed to develop high school students’ problem-solving, programming, and math skills and improve performance on state math assessments, particularly Algebra I. From 2020 to 2024, Education Northwest evaluated the implementation and impact of the course on students across the state. This report describes the study and what we learned about the course’s impact on student achievement in math and credit attainment in STEM courses.
