students at a computer

Louisiana State University received a federal Education Innovation and Research grant to develop and implement an Introduction to Computational Thinking course for high school students. Computational thinking is the ability to apply the skills required of computer science to solve everyday problems. Because of this, computational thinking has the potential to support students’ learning across subject areas as well as their success in STEM courses and careers.

From fall 2020 through spring 2024, Education Northwest evaluated the impact of Introduction to Computational Thinking on participating students in East Baton Rouge Parish School System and other urban and rural communities in Louisiana. In this webinar, the ICT course developers and Education Northwest evaluators will share their findings on how the course impacted student STEM outcomes as well as implications for scaling computer science education across the country.
