Exploring the Long-Term Results of Beaverton’s Dual Language Programs
Beaverton School District has over 13,215 multilingual K–12 students—about a third of the total student population—speaking more than 110 languages. To support them, the district has invested in dual language education. Education Northwest and the district codesigned a rigorous evaluation of the dual language programs, examining how English learners in these programs perform on academic outcomes in comparison to peers who are not. Data from the evaluation will help the district plan dual language program expansion and build research on the impact of this approach to multilingual education.
